Mike Bettes is a well-known American television meteorologist and Emmy Award-winning storm chaser, currently working for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia. Bettes co-hosted AHQ: America’s Morning Headquarters. Best currently hosts Weather Underground TV. Since 2003, Mike has been an on-camera weatherman for TWC, as well as an occasional weather anchor on The Today Show.

Furthermore, the same tornado also killed TWISTEX storm chasers Tim Samaras, his son Paul and colleague Carl Young. Dan Robinson from St. Louis, Missouri, escaped the tornado with minor injuries. He was ahead of the TWISTEX crew by a few hundred meters.
