Cheryl Scott is an American meteorologist at ABC7 Eyewitness News based in Chicago. She joined the station in December 2014 from NBC 5, Chicago, where she worked as a morning and weekend weatherman. Additionally, Scott is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross.
From a young age, Scott has always been fascinated by the weather, sky and nature around him. This made her decide to follow meteorology at an early age.
She joined Brown University in 2007, later graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences. In 2010, Cheryl joined Mississippi State University graduating with a certificate in Meteorology.
Scott began her career as an intern at WCAU-NBC10 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while still in high school. This gave him the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of forecasting. Cheryl was nominated as a weekend weatherman on WSEE-TV in 2007. She also worked 24 hours on the Caribbean Weather Channel at the same time.
She later moved to Knoxville to work at WBIR-TV, another NBC affiliate. Also, in April 2011, she reported on the catastrophic Knoxville tornadoes, which had widespread destruction. This gave her credit where she explained how it happened and some safety measures to take. Also, after the storm, Scott volunteered to work with the Red Cross.
In September 2011, Cheryl joined NBC 5 in Chicago, working as a working and weekend weatherman. Later, she got her current job as a meteorologist at ABC 7 Eyewitness News in December 2014 till date.
