After graduating, she went to Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville, Penn. She did radio forecasting and wrote forecasts for several major newspapers for cities in the U.S. and Canada. She was later hired by WTOV-TV, WATE-TV, and WLEX-TV and worked as their chief meteorologist.
Diane also worked in Kansas City for WDAF-TV. Previously, she worked as a meteorologist at WTSP, Channel 10. It was here that she joined the Spectrum Bay News 9 weather team in 2004. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society where she holds a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal.
For her studies, Kacmarik attended Penn State University in State College, Penn. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.
