Amber Sullins biography
Amber Sullins is an American meteorologist who currently serves as ABC15’s chief meteorologist. She anchors the weather nightly to the ABC15 news and continually updates the Valley’s most accurate forecast on ABC15.com and ABC15 Mobile. Most notably, she joined the station in September 2009, but has spent most of her life in the Southwest.
Born in Phoenix, she fell in love with the monsoon at an early age, which led to her pursuing a career in Meteorology. Amber studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson and earned a bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science with a dual major in Mathematics and Journalism. In addition, she earned the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation seal.
While at university, she worked for the National Weather Service and remained connected to her alma mater, currently serving on the advisory board of the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences. Her career, however, began at KVIA-TV in El Paso, Texas.
Amber was honored with two Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Awards for Best Weather in 2007 and 2008. Additionally, she was recognized again in the Texas Legislature for these awards in May 2009, when a House resolution was passed in her honor. She is also a 5-time Emmy winner and was honored in 2010, 2013 and 2014 with the Rocky Mountain Emmy Beast Weathercaster.
