Aubrey Urbanowicz Biography
Aubrey Urbanowicz is an American meteorologist who currently serves as the chief meteorologist at WHSV. She joined the station in 2010. In addition to her sole role as chief meteorologist, she goes to schools and the community to talk about the weather. Additionally, she teaches LLI at JMU.
She became interested in weather while working as a corporate trainer for a restaurant chain. After that, she went back to school to study meteorology and graduated in 2009. She graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology.
Aubrey has been in 6 hurricanes, starting with Hurricane Gloria when she was 4 years old. She has also been in four hurricanes as a corporate trainer for the Chilies. That’s basically how she ended up becoming a meteorologist.
Her interests in climate history have grown since moving to the Shenandoah Valley. Urbanowiz is always interested in hearing about past climate events. When she is away from her duties, she loves to travel and explore the surrounding area. She also enjoys reading, gardening, and hiking.
