Chelsea Chandler Biography
Chelsea Chandler is an American weatherman who currently works for WATN-TV, Local ABC 24 News in Memphis, as a morning weather forecaster and traffic anchor on weekdays from 6am to 7am and noon to 11am.
Her ambition was to “Do it in Memphis,” and she considers it an honor to serve the community she loves every weekday morning and during inclement weather. She enjoys connecting with our fans on social media and creating her DoodleCast, and her work as a morning weather forecaster has been recognized by the Commercial Appeals Memphis Most as the Best Weather Meteorologist on TV and the Memphis Flyer as the Best of Memphis for several years.
Chandler is a South Central native. Briarcrest Christian High School was his alma mater. She later enrolled in the Pennsylvania State University and Mississippi State Universityalthough their initial degrees in Psychology and History were obtained simultaneously Christian Brothers University, and she is one of two students to earn a degree in Music.

Chelsea started her career as a traffic anchor in Memphis ten years ago. She was sidelined for a year due to an accident, but the FIFA World Cup led to a life-changing call. She started her sports journalism career on sports radio. This helped her land a job with the Phoenix Suns and later on ABC coverage of the Memphis Grizzlies. She did secondary reporting for the Memphis Tigers on ESPN, as well as color analysis for an international tennis match and even a home makeover show.
In 2012, she was also named Miss Tennessee International. Chelsea is also a singer. She has been on “The Late Show with Craig Ferguson”, “The Tyra Banks Show” and “Larry the Cable Guy”, as well as Disneyland, Carnival Cruise Lines and almost every Opry in the South. She is also an experienced equestrian, having won several awards. Chandler was also selected to represent Tennessee at Congress, the world’s largest quarter mile horse show.
She has worked as a print model and commercial actress in the past. She competed for the Memphis speed skating team and the junior Olympic figure skating team. Chelsea was also a magician’s assistant, but don’t ask her how she felt about being cut in two ways… She was sworn to secrecy!
Chelsea has become a vocal advocate for mental health and suicide awareness and education following the death of her brother in 2011 and her personal issues. She’s also excited about animal rescue and all things Memphis and history. She spends her free time reading, traveling to sporting events – say a sport, and she no doubt adores it – or simply snuggling with her furry babies and cheering on her hometown’s tigers and bears. Oh, and sleeping now and then.
