Courtney Jorgensen is an American meteorologist who currently serves as a meteorologist at WNDU-TV, communications coordinator and $5,000 director at Girls on the Run Michiana. She joined the network in December 2017. Jorgensen has spent her entire life in Michigan and Indiana, living in Michiana since 2005.
In her senior year of high school, Courtney was crowned Junior Miss of Michigan in 1999, giving her the chance to travel across the state and compete in America’s Junior Miss. Jorgensen participated Wayne Memorial High Schoolwhere she graduated as valedictorian in 1999.
He later joined the prestigious University of Michiganwhere she received a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science in 2003. Additionally, Courtney received a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science in 2004.
During her tenure there, Jorgensen served as President of the Society of Women Engineers and Head of Weather Forecasting for WOLV-TV, a student-run television station.
Courtney wanted to be a meteorologist since childhood. At age seven, she set up a video recorder in her living room and used a hairbrush as a microphone to report the weather. She remembers seeing a funnel cloud nearby when she was a child.
Jorgensen was the only member of his family to find shelter in an interior corridor, while the other family looked up in wonder at the sky. She was aware of the power of Mother Nature and the importance of telling life-saving stories with others at an early age.

Additionally, Jorgensen was the second intern employed at WXYZ-TV in Detroit, MI. At that time, she spent two years as an associate weather producer for her mentors, Paul Gross and Chuck Gaidica.
However, after her graduation, Courtney took a break from the climate to work in corporate America before switching to her other passion, non-profit work. Additionally, in 2011, Jorgensen returned to the green screen as the weekend weatherman on WSJV-TV in Elkhart, Indiana. She worked there until the summer of 2016.
