Dan Henry is a five-time Emmy Award-winning American meteorologist, currently serving as chief meteorologist for FOX 4 News in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas metro area since January 2003. He is well known for his weather and climate coverage in both local and national levels. He leads the group of most talented meteorologists in North Texas. Previously, he was working in the Technique Development Lab.
Henry enrolled at Methactoln High School and later attended Penn State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. However, he became a football fanatic. He completed a 3-semester internship with the National Weather Service while still at Penn State, which earned him a job as a research meteorologist in his undergraduate degree.
After two years of processing numerical data, Dan was ready to make his attempt at Television at a small station in Wilmington, North Carolina, by submitting a tape. For the past 3 decades, Dan has observed everything related to mother nature, from hurricanes and heat waves, blizzards and ice storms, floods and hailstorms, without leaving a few tornadoes. In fact, it broadcast two terrible tornado outbreaks in the Washington D.C. area in 2001 and 2002.
Furthermore, Dan was a reporter for WECT TV for four years and started working for WTVD-TV around 3 years old. However, the meteorologist also worked as a meteorologist for the WJLA-TV team for 6 years. As a weather anchor, he is responsible for creating daily content giving dozens of presentations and weather information each year for schools, civic groups and businesses.
Since his arrival at FOX 4 News Dallas, Henry has earned several accolades. He was honored with five Emmys, including three for Best Television Meteorologist in Texas. However, he is also a certified and licensed meteorologist, earning the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval in 1992. Amazingly, Dan is the first meteorologist in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area to receive the prestigious Broadcast Certified Meteorologist Seal in 2007.
