He is also the current evangelist and pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church located in different parts of the United States. Batchelor even gained more fame and public attention for being the author of several best selling books like The Richest Caveman and many more. In addition, he is the lead pastor of the main branch of the Central Seventh-day Adventist Church called Granite Bay Church, headquartered in Sacramento, California.

Batchelor was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, as the son of a qualified pilot who was considered an aviation mogul and a Hollywood actress. So Doug grew up with all the luxuries that money could. He attended good schools and had tutors by his side. Doug even drove different types of cars when he was nineteen. However, he never found true peace and happiness through all the material things he received from his father. So at eighteen, Doug dropped out of college and began a reckless dropout habit that got him in a lot of trouble, especially with the law.
