Erika Martin biography
Erika Martin is an American certified broadcast meteorologist, TV presenter, environmental speaker, storm chaser and sustainability officer currently working at ABC 4 News as a meteorologist. She is extremely happy to be a part of the diverse ABC 4 News team and loves being a part of the Good Morning Utah team. Martin is the first Latin Meteorologist on the market.
Erica has experience in forecasting from the Mid-Atlantic to New England, having worked at WTNH, NBC Philadelphia and WCBS New York. It is also planned for KPIX and KCOY/KYET in California. Additionally, he appeared on Good Morning America as a stand-in and on World News Tonight to cover extreme weather.
Erika was also chief meteorologist for the WTNH in New Haven, CT, where she says the two toughest storms she had to cover from start to finish were Superstorm Sandy and 2013’s Blizzard. She kept a copy of the first ECMWF model. from Sandy. . She has also covered major disasters such as Tropical Storm Irene, 2011’s Halloween Nor’easter, 2013 Rim Wildfire, Boston’s record 2015 snowfall, Hurricanes Irma, Harvey as well as Maria, and several tornadoes.

In her spare time, she volunteers with local animal and environmental organizations, spends time with her husband Jay and their puppy Chloe, practices yoga, does interior design and also uses Zoom to communicate with friends and family.
Martin holds a Bachelor of Meteorological Sciences and an MBA in Energy and Sustainability. Five years ago, she wanted to exchange her master’s for an MS Due to the subtle climate changes in operational meteorology in the MBA in energy and sustainability, the MBA observed a result of macroscopic structures.
During his graduate studies, he focused on cognitive environmental adaptation, resulting in the development of two ecotechnological products on which he holds patents. However, she avoided going back to school to major in science. She recently explored the opportunity with an administrator at the University of Utah.
