Jason Dunning is an American Broadcast meteorologist currently working as a meteorologist on NBC2 News TODAY, Southwest Florida’s #1 morning news. Prior to joining the NBC2 staff, he served as a morning and noon weather forecaster at WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi.

Southwest Florida’s #1 morning news, NBC 2 Tv TODY, was one of the first alert squads in 2011 and is the weatherman. However, Jason is a Florida native who grew up in Palatka, a small town in northeast Florida near the St. Johann. At a very young age, Jason liked the weather. When he was in high school, Jason borrowed a video camera from his mother to record his own weather segments, including hand-drawn graphics and screenshots of the weather channel.
After collaborating with a few other neighborhood kids to record news and sports, he would deliver multiple copies of Neighborhood New to every house on the block. His love of broadcasting and meteorology led him to the University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications. Morning and noon at WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi, before returning to Florida. Jason covered the historic tornado tragedy of April 27, 2011, a day he will never forget, during his last week on the job in Columbus. Jason enjoys flying, working out and discovering everything Southwest Florida wants, while he’s not working at the First Warning Storm Monitoring Center. He enjoys fishing and being near water in particular.
