Jennifer Sanders biography
Jennifer Sanders is an Emmy-nominated global journalist, university professor, news anchor and documentary filmmaker passionate about helping and empowering people through visual storytelling. Sanders is currently an anchor and reporter for KXAN News in Austin, Texas, an affiliate of NBC. She joined the station in 2020 after nearly 10 years at Syracuse, New York’s NewsChannel 9 WSYR-TV, an ABC affiliate.
Jennifer started out as a weekend reporter in Syracuse and rose through the ranks to become the anchor of the station’s morning news. Sanders previously worked at KXII-TV in Sherman, Texas as a multimedia journalist. She was in charge of filming, writing and editing news and sports stories on KXII-TV.
Sanders also hosted a weekly chat show called “Forum,” in which she covered the major issues affecting people in Texas and Oklahoma in depth.
Jennifer previously worked on KDAF-TV inside Dallas-Fort Worth as a writer/web producer. She worked in the control room, wrote stories for the station’s nightly news and website, and co-produced unusual initiatives at Dallas/Ft. Worth the TV market. Sander began his media career in Seguin, Texas, working for newspapers and radio stations.

Sanders also launched a new WSYR TV series called “Victory over Violence”, which shifts the focus from photos and arrests to effects and solutions. She highlights people and initiatives impacting downtown New York in the battle against poverty and crime in this weekly series.
Sanders interviewed Oprah Winfrey and recounted President Barack Obama’s visit to Cooperstown, New York. His long coverage of the Flint, Michigan water crisis is one of his most memorable experiences.

Jennifer organized a donation drive at her station before going to Flint to collect clean water for people affected by the water crisis. Thousands of bottles of water were collected in just two days, along with thousands of dollars in donations, which she presented to Flint residents during her broadcast.
Sanders is also the co-host from the podcast “Ladies’ Room”. Jennifer and her co-host, Iris St. Meran, interview well-known women from around the world on their path to success in hopes of inspiring others to pursue their dreams.
