Jessica Hafner biography
Jessica Hafner is an American meteorologist who currently works as chief meteorologist at ABC17 Stormtrack Weather. She returned to ABC17 News after three years at KSDK-TV in St. Louis, where she was a meteorologist and traffic anchor.
During her time at KSDK, she visited over 75 schools in Missouri and Illinois to speak with students about weather safety and broadcast weather. Before moving east, she worked with former ABC17 Stormtrack Chief Meteorologist Sharon Ray as a midday meteorologist and director of digital content from 2014 to 2016.
Most notably, she began her career in Mid-Missouri at KRCG in 2012 as a weekend weatherman and general reporter. Prior to earning a degree in meteorology from Northern Illinois University, she was an intern at the National Weather Service in Lincoln, Illinois. Furthermore, she took part in a storm chasing course at the College of Dupage in 2011.
She received the Certified Broadcast Meteorology designation from the American Meteorological Society in 2015. She was nominated twice for a Mid-America Regional Emmy Award for her work on the anniversary of the Great Flood of 1993. Hafner is happy to be back in Mid-America.
