John King biography
John King is a veteran American news anchor who currently serves as CNN’s lead national correspondent, based in Wahington, DC. In addition, King is the anchor of CNN’s political roundtable discussion program Inside Politics.
Previously, John was serving as an anchor for State of the Union and John King, USA, a show that aired weekdays at 7pm ET on CNN before its cancellation.
King began his career as a writer for the Associated Press, an American non-profit news agency, in 1985. In 1991, he became the chief political correspondent, heading the Agency’s political coverage of the 1992 and 1996 presidential elections.
At the same time, he won the top reporting award from the AP’ Managing Editors’ Association for his coverage of the Gulf War in Kuwait. In 1997, John joined CNN, where he served as a senior White House correspondent from 1999 to 2005. In 2005, King became CNN’s top national correspondent, a position he holds to this day.
