John Kirby biography
John Kirby is a retired Rear Admiral in the United States. Here he worked as press secretary for the US Department of Defense. He was also the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs. Previously, he worked as a military and diplomatic analyst for CNN. During the Obama administration, John was the spokesman for the United States Department of State.
Kirby began his career in 1986 as a surface warfare officer. He was later positioned as a public relations officer. Before John became the commander of US naval forces in Europe, he was the head of the Navy’s main monthly magazine. Later, John became the head of the naval operation and special assistant for public affairs to the chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
In 2013, he was appointed Pentagon press secretary and later the position of rear admiral. He retired from the military after working as a spokesperson for the US State Department. Recently, during the Biden administration, John was appointed for the second time as the Pentagon’s press secretary.
