Jon Ponder’s biography
Jon Ponder is a three-time convicted American bank robber who founded the Hope of Prisoners program in Nevada after his release in 2009. The program helps former prisoners integrate well into society.
His work was put into national prominence when President Donald Trump granted him a pardon during the 2020 Republican National Convention. Jon’s pardon was released shortly before he appeared as a speaker at the event.
Growing up in New York, Jon got involved with gangs from a very young age. He was first arrested for armed robbery at age 16. In 2004, Jon was arrested again for bank robbery in Las Vegas and sent to federal prison in Pennsylvania.

In 2009, Ponder established Hope for Prisoners to allow ex-convicts to reintegrate into society. The organization works with law enforcement (including the FBI agent who arrested Ponder) and local businesses.
According to research conducted by researchers at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, between January and June 205, 64% of ex-convicts who participated in the program found stable employment while 6% of participants were arrested again.
