Kathy Orr is an American Emmy Award-winning meteorologist who currently works as a weather anchor on FOX 29. She joined the station in September 2015 as a weather anchor for the station’s nightly news. Prior to joining FOX 29, she provided weekday forecasts on CBS 3’s Eyewitness News at 5pm, 6pm and 11pm. Furthermore, she has provided forecasts for CBS 3 sister radio stations, 94 WIP and KYW News radio.
After her formal credentials, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from the State University of New York at Oswego and a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and Marketing from Syracuse University. In addition, she holds NWA, AMS, and CBM certifications in Meteorology.
Having arrived in Philadelphia in 1998, she was the first female meteorologist in the Philadelphia television market. In 1999, Orr was named “Rookie of the Year” by the Delaware County Times. Her reporting earned her eight Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Meteorologist” and also received top honors from the Associated Press Broadcasters Association of Pennsylvania. In 2008, she was named “Best Weathercaster” in the “Best of Philly” issue of Philadelphia Magazine.
