Kelly Evans is an American journalist and co-anchor of Power Lunch on the business news channel CNBC. She previously worked at CNBC Europe Headquarters in London, England from May 2012 to May 2013. Evans currently works at CNBC Headquarters in New Jersey.

Evans was born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Lexington, Virginia, Rockbridge County, near the Blue Ridge Mountains. She went to school at Rockbridge County High School, where she earned eight letters in lacrosse, cross country, and track. Evan continued her education at Washington and Lee University, where she was a George Washington Honor Scholar, which gave her a full academic scholarship.

She graduated madna cum laude and earned a bachelor’s degree in business journalism. While at university, Kelly was a four-time collegiate athlete and co-captain of the women’s lacrosse team. Prior to that, she is an Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership society. She began her career in real estate and economics at the Wall Street Journal in 2007. She also worked there as a reporter for the Global Economy department. Additionally, Evans wrote the “Ahead of the Tapes” column for “Heard on the Street” while working for the Wall Street Journal.

Evan joined CNBC in 2012 as a correspondent, reporting on CNBC’s weekday programming, as well as hosting Squawk Box in the United States. She was one of the moderators of the 2012 Republican primary debate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Likewise, Kelly also moderated a James Carville v. Ann Coulter, part of the 25th annual convention simulation event at her alma mater. She also hosted the daily news show on WSJ.com and was a regular guest on television and radio networks such as CBNC.
