Krystle Henderson Biography
Krystle Henderson is an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist, reporter and multimedia journalist currently working for 12 News. She is part of the Today in AZ team, leading weather coverage, along with Rachel McNeill and Ryan Cody.
In addition, it also provides viewers with 411 weekday forecast on 12@12, 12 News’ multiplatform midday show with 12 minutes of non-stop content. Henderson joined Team 12 in September 2013.
Krystle won three 2019 Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards: Outstanding Weather Anchor (Meteorologist); Best specialty assignment report – everywhere from A to Z and best sports – unique news story. Henderson was also recognized with Emmys for Talent – Anchor – Weather in 2017, as well as Talent – Anchor – Traffic in 2016.
Krystle attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. Krystle began her career in Medford, Oregon, working at KTVL News 10, the CBS affiliate, for four good years as a weekend news and weather anchor and weekday reporter, covering southern Oregon and northern California. . While at KTVL, Henderson received an Associated Press Award for Best Weathercast and another for Best Continuing Coverage. Likewise, she hosted a series titled Medford’s Most Wanted.
Henderson’s love for the weather came while he was finishing his degree at ASU. She made weather forecasts for Cronkite Newswatch and was eager to learn more about the science behind it, so she continued her education at Mississippi State University, earning a Bachelor of Science and a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology.
Additionally, Henderson has served on the NATAS Rocky Mountain Emmy Board of Governors since 2018. She was motivated to participate after receiving the Student Production Awards in 2017. On the board, she serves on the education committee helping to mentor young journalists.
She was born in Chandler and grew up in Gilbert, and it has always been her dream to be part of the 12 News team. In addition, she is a volunteer who helps with several events each year centered on animals and students.
