Lauren Magiera is an American sports anchor and reporter who currently works at WGN-TV. She joined the station in April 2016 as the station’s first female sports anchor and reporter.
Magiera worked with the NFL Green Bay Packers, where she co-hosted a weekly 30-minute pre-game show with Packers Hall of Famer Larry McCarren, before joining the WGN News team. She hosted home games as a field reporter, published weekly articles, and developed web material for Packers.com in addition to the pre-game program.
Additionally, prior to joining the Green Bay Packers, Lauren worked for various seasons in an athletic capacity. In 2008, she worked at ABC Alaska KIMO/FOX as the network’s sports director. She spent nearly 2 years at ABC, then moved to NBC Alaska KTUU as a sports reporter. Additionally, in 2012, Magiera returned to the Midwest, working as a sports director-producer-reporter for ABC Wausau WAOW-TV in Wisconsin. Eventually, she made her way to Green Bay.
As one of Chicago’s own, Magiera grew up in the northwest suburbs. For high school, she attended Barrington College from 2001 to 2005. Later, he joined the University of Alaska Anchorage and graduated with a BA in Journalism and Public Communication with a full gymnastics scholarship.
