Mark Jones born Mark Vernon Jones is a Canadian sportscaster for ABC and ESPN and the primary play-by-play announcer for the Sacramento Kings games on NBC Sports California. Jones has been a member of the ESPN broadcasting family since 1990. Prior to that, Jones worked for Sports Network (TSN) in Canada. Currently, he has mainly covered college football and NBA games on ABC and ESPN.
Jones attended York University and played basketball. he led the team to three Universities of Ontario Athletics Association Championships in 1981, 1984, and 1985. During his career, Mark was one of the top players in the OUAA, earning second-team all-star conference honors in 1984 and 1985. 1986, Jones ended his career with a first-team star nod.

In addition, he provided step-by-step commentary for the Speed Skating World Championships and Gymnastics World Cup.
For the deciding Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals between Boston Celtics and Miami Heat on May 29, 2022, Jones replaced Mike Breen, ESPN’s main NBA announcer. Due to a positive COVID test, Breen was forced to miss the broadcast along with analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. In Breen’s absence, Jones presided over the first two games of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics.
Prior to joining ESPN and ABC Sports, Jones worked from 1986 to 90 for The Sports Network in Toronto, Canada, where he was a sports anchor and host of a show for the Toronto Blue Jays magazine.
