Melissa Cole is an Emmy-nominated American journalist who currently works as a reporter and meteorologist at WFSB. Prior to her current position, she worked as a reporter at WHP, based in Harrisburg. Cole attended West Hartford Ct and later graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and meteorological studies.
She became obsessed with the weather after Hurricane Gloria and says she remembers a giant tree being uprooted from the front of her house when she was in 4th grade in West Hartford. From there, she studied weather details and eventually meteorology. Before joining WFSB in 2003, she served at WIVT in Binghamton, N.Y., and WHP in Harrisburg.
She began her career as a weekend meteorologist and now lends an extra hand during severe weather events. Her work is highly regarded and she even received an Emmy nomination for her show Better Connecticut. She recently received a nomination for a story on Pediatric Cancer Awareness.
