Melissa Cole is an Emmy-nominated American journalist who currently works as a reporter and meteorologist at the WFSB. Prior to her current position, she worked as a reporter at Harrisburg-based WHP. Cole attended West Hartford Ct and later graduated from Villanova University with a BA in journalism and meteorological studies.
She became obsessed with the weather after Hurricane Gloria and says she remembers a giant tree being uprooted in front of her house when she was in 4th grade in West Hartford. From there, she went down to the details of the weather studying meteorology. Prior to joining WFSB in 2003, she served at WIVT in Binghamton NY and WHP in Harrisburg.
She started her career as a weekend weatherman and currently lends an extra hand during severe weather events. Her work is highly recognized and she even received an Emmy nomination for the Better Connecticut program. She recently received a nomination for a story on Pediatric Cancer Awareness.
