Mike Nelson biography
Mike Nelson is an American meteorologist who serves as the chief meteorologist on Denver 7. He joined Denver 7 in June 2004 and is currently an eighteen-time Emmy winner. He spent 40 years predicting the weather on television, where 25 of the years he predicted the weather in Colorado alone.
Furthermore, he started working at a Madison-based private weather consulting firm, Weather Central. Later, in 1979, he was appointed Executive Vice President of Weather Central where he supervised a team of 14 meteorologists. He teamed up with Terry Kelly and developed one of the first weather computer graphics systems for TV.
In 1982, he trained the legendary Denver meteorologist Stormy Rottman in the system after he brought it to Colorado. He later worked as a chief meteorologist in St. Louis, Missouri. It also approved candidates to receive the AMS Weather-casting TV Seal. That’s because he was a member of the American Meteorological Society’s Broadcast Meteorology Board.
In addition, it was recognized in 2001 as the citizen of the year by the Colorado Broadcasters Association. In addition, he participated in University of Wisconsin where he studied and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology
