Biography of Mishal Husain
Mishal Husain is a British news anchor and journalist who currently works for BBC Television and BBC Radio. Husain is the main Sunday presenter of BBC News at Ten and BBC Weekend News, as well as the main presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Today. During his tenure at the station, Mishal has presented The Andrew Marr Show, HARDtalk, Impact and BBC Breakfast. Furthermore, she is a BBC News at Six relief presenter.
Mishal attended the British School in Abu Dhabi, where his family stayed for a period. She later returned to England at age 12 and continued her education at Cobham Hall School, an independent school in Kent. Husain studied law at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, and later earned an MA in International and Comparative Law at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.

Mishal Husain’s Career
Mishal began her journalistic career at age 18, when she worked as a city presenter for the English-language newspaper The News in Islamabad, Pakistan. Then, while at university, she did various internships at the BBC as part of her work experience. Her first job was at Bloomberg TV in London, where she worked as a creator and occasional reporter from 1996 onwards.
Two years later, in 1998, she joined the BBC as a junior creator at the newsroom and News 24 channel, and then at the Economics and Business Unit. After a few months, she played various roles on the daily Breakfast show, Asia Business Report, and as a business news reporter at BBC World and BBC World News.
She was the corporation’s Washington journalist in September 2002, serving as the main news presenter during the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq and throughout the war. She has spoken with several high-profile individuals, including Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Armigate, Richard Perle, Paul Kagame and Emmerson Mnangagwa.

On May 8, 2010, she published an autobiographical article in The Independent about a nostalgic trip to the UAE. In 2011, she hosted Impact on BBC World News, but in the spring and summer of that year, she was working on a documentary about the Arab Spring that would air in the fall of that year. She hosts BBC Weekend News on BBC One on Sunday nights. Mishal was announced as a cast member of the BBC Olympics presentation team on 2 December 2011.

The Daily Mail criticized her in 2017 after an interview with then-Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on the Today Program on Radio 4, as well as Mishal’s temperance during a BBC election debate in Cambridge. After the debate, The Mail dubbed her a “spokesperson for (Labour leader Jeremy) Corbyn” and described her performance as “light”. Her interview with Johnson was also mentioned in the reviews. She filmed an interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on November 27.
