Rick Ritter Biography
Rick Ritter is an American Award-winning journalist who has currently worked as an anchor and reporter at WJZ since joining the station in May 2014. He anchors the 5 pm news with Nicole Baker, the 11 pm news with Vic Carter and hosts the show. post-game “Purple Connection” on Sundays during the Ravens season.
A native of Philadelphia, he loves working in the Northeast. Since arriving in Baltimore, he has won an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Live Reporter”. In addition, he covered some of the biggest stories in the city and the Baltimore region, including the death of Freddie Gray, the riots and protests that followed, and the trials of the officers initially charged in Gray’s death. He was on the scene for the two Harford County shootings and the F2 tornado.
Most notably, he also plays a key role in WJZ sports coverage, especially with the Ravens. Before moving to Baltimore, he was a reporter and anchor for the WBBH in Fort Myers, Florida. His career, however, began in Atlantic City, where he worked as a news and sports anchor and reporter for WMGM-TV. Regarding his education, he graduated from Widener University in Pennsylvania where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism.
