Phil Ferro is an American meteorologist who currently works as a chief meteorologist and is responsible for providing the latest weather information from clocks and warnings for the local forecast on WSVN FOX 7. He anchors weekday weather forecasts during 7 News from 4pm to 11pm. . He joined 7News in 2005.
In addition, he leads a four-person team that monitors the skies over South Florida 24 hours a day. He keeps up-to-date on the latest developments in the meteorological field by regularly attending seminars and conferences on hurricanes, among others. Most notably, he participated in a historic mission that flew into a hurricane while traveling back across the Caribbean in 1999.
Ferro has completed FEMA training in community hurricane preparedness and is constantly taking NOAA classes to keep her forecasting skills sharp. He is a member of the AMS Professional Affairs Committee of the Broadcast Meteorology Council’s Spanish-speaking permanent plan of raters. Throughout his career, he has received many awards and nominations. Most notably, her work has been recognized by the South Florida chapter of the Association for Women in Communications and the Miami Dade County League of Cities, among others.
