Ron Klain biography
Ron Klain, also known as Ronald Alan Klain, is a renowned American attorney, political consultant, and former lobbyist who serves as White House Chief of Staff under President Joe Biden. He is a Democrat who previously served as chief of staff to two vice presidents, Al Gore from 1995 to 1999 and Joe Biden from 2009 to 2011.
After the emergence of Ebola virus cases in the United States, President Obama appointed him as the White House Ebola Response Coordinator, a position he held from 2014 to 2015.
He served as a senior adviser to Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. After his victory, Biden announced Klain’s appointment as White House chief of staff on November 12.
In 1979, Ron graduated from North Center College, where he was a member of the school’s Brain Game team, which finished second in the season. In 1983, he graduated Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude. he graduated in Harvard Law School with a degree of Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 1987.
Ron Klain’s Career
Klain served as the legislative director for US Representative Ed Markey (D–MA) from 1983 to 1984. During 1987 and 1988, Klain worked as a paralegal to Supreme Court Justice Byron White.
He was Chief Counsel of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee from 1989 to 1992, where he oversaw the work of the legal team in constitutional law, criminal law, antitrust law, and Supreme Court appointments, including the appointment of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court in 1991. Senator Tom Daschle appointed him as Personnel Director of the Senate Democratic Leadership Committee in 1995.
Klain joined the Clinton-Gore team in 1992 and was a key figure in Bill Clinton’s two presidential campaigns. Clinton’s judicial nominees were overseen by him.
Klain served as Associate Counsel to the President at the White House, where he directed the judicial selection efforts and led the team that secured the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In 1994, he became Chief of Staff and Counsel to Attorney General Janet Reno, and in 1995, he became Al Gore’s Chief of Staff.
