Sally Nugent is an English journalist, broadcaster and television presenter. Sally has been working as a presenter on BBC Breakfast along with Dan Walker, Naga Munchetty, Charlie Stayt and Jon Kay since October 2021.
Nugent was born and raised in Birkenhead, Merseyside, England. She completed her schooling from Upton Hall School FCJ. She then joined Huddersfield University where she graduated with a BA in Communication Arts and French. Her first job was at BBC Radio Merseyside before moving to BBC North West Tonight, where Sally worked as a reporter. She was later hired by BBC News as a sports reporter. At first, Sally worked as a TV and radio news correspondent, as a presenter for the BBC News Channel. In addition, she covered the 2006 FIFA World Cup, presenting Sportsday from Germany.
In 2011, Nugent began co-hosting BBC Breakfast on a freelance basis, filling in when regular hosts were unavailable. After the show’s relocation, Nugent along with Mike Bushell were tasked with co-hosting. She groomed herself as a regular co-host of the Breakfast team after appearing on the 2012 Christmas Eve edition with Bill Turnbull, until September 2021 reporting on Emma Raducanu’s historic win at the US Open tennis championship. More recently, it was announced that she would become a permanent BBC Breakfast presenter alongside Dan Walker and Charlie Stayt.
