Chad Myers biography
Chad Myers is a well-known Peabody Award-winning meteorologist who currently works as a weather anchor for CNN. He also provided daily reports on weather trends across the United States and Canada. Additionally, Myer joined the network in October 1999 after moving from WXYZ-TV in Detroit, where he worked as a morning weather analyst. It also has the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.
Chad is also a native of Buffalo, New York, United States, where he earned a degree in meteorology from the University of Nebraska. In addition, it has obtained the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. Right out of college, Chad was hired at NEXRAD Radar and AWIPS 90 Forecasting in Computer Systems Development. After that he moved and joined Silver Spring from the National Weather Service for Techniques Developmental Lba.
Two years later, he became a staff member of KOLN-TV’s weekend weather/environmental reporter in Lincoln. While still serving there, Myer also worked as a morning and noon meteorologist at WTVR in Richmond. Prior to joining WSYX-TV, he served as a weekend weatherman for ABC affiliate KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City. At WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio, Myer worked there for three years as chief meteorologist and anchor from 5 pm to 6 pm and 11 pm.
He later joined WXYZ-TV in Detroit as a weatherman for the morning and midday newscasts. In October 1999, he left the station and joined CNN as a meteorologist and weather specialist. Myers claimed in a 2010 air interview that climatologists were only reporting that the climate is changing because their jobs were on the line and that “they worked for the government”.
Additionally, he was the subject of a segment on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, HBO’s popular satirical news show, entitled “CNN Weatherman Chad Myers Hates His Job. Throughout his career, Chad has received the Peabody Award for contributing to Gulf War coverage and for scientific explanations of the BP oil spill. He has also covered big stories like the capping in the Gulf of Mexico, the 2011 Japan tsunami and the nuclear meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi reactors.
