Chase Thomason is an American meteorologist who has worked at KUTV2 since 2014. Prior to that, he worked as a meteorologist and storm chaser at KFOR-TV.
Thomson’s love for Mother Nature’s fury began in Sandy, Utah, where he was raised. In his own backyard, Thompson was able to witness a unique weather phenomenon that only happens in two parts of the United States: lake-effect snow. This ignited Thomson’s passion for the weather.
Following his passion, he graduated from University of Oklahoma. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology and a double minor in mathematics and broadcast journalism. Most notably, he began his career in Texas, where he worked as a meteorologist for several years. His next stop was Oklahoma City, where he played a pivotal role in Moore’s 2013 National Emmy-winning tornado coverage. Because of that, he gained national recognition for chasing the storms of May 19 and 31, 2013.
Thomason is excited to be back home, where he can put his years of knowledge about the weather to good use. In his spare time, he can be found playing tennis or golf. Also, traveling is another favorite hobby of his. He currently resides in Salt Lake City with his wife.
