Ferguson realized that being on television was ingrained in him, so he returned to his broadcasting career working for WVTM-TV. Most notably, he began his broadcasting career in 1987, where he later took a break from the media after a few years to venture into the family business.
Prior to joining the WBRC, Ferguson worked at WSFA-TV as a meteorologist and co-host of a local morning show, where he worked here for three years. He later moved to WBMG-TV in Birmingham, where he worked as a reporter and weekend anchor. He is currently working for the WBRC as a meteorologist.
