Kelly Bates is an American meteorologist who currently serves as the Morning Weather Talent at WJAR. She joined the station in August 2014. Prior to joining the current station, she served as president of marketing promotion for the Bates Group standalone. She also updated the forecast generated by WMUR on WMUR.com.
Bates attended and graduated from Bishop Feehan College. She later joined Lyndon State College where he studied and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Meteorology.
After graduating, Bates was hired by WLNE Freelance as their Weekend Weather Talent. Here she was responsible for all weather related duties in relation to the news. In addition, she has interpreted weather data and derived forecasts for the Providence area broadcast market.
She also worked as a weather producer at Weather Plus. There she was responsible for daily production. This one was for an international cable television franchise specializing in weather. She also created forecasts, scripts and charts for broadcasts in Europe.
Prior to that, she worked as a weekend morning weather forecaster and science reporter at WMUR. There, she interpreted weather data and deduced forecasts for Manchester. She also updated WMUR-generated forecasts on WMUR.com and on various radio stations in New Hampshire. She currently serves as the Morning Weather Talent for the Sinclair Broadcast Part-Time group.
