Lisa Teachman biography
Lisa Teachman is an American Emmy Award-winning meteorologist who currently works as the Chief Meteorologist for the KSN Storm Track 3 Weather Team. Born and raised in the Haysville suburb of Witchita, she is excited to be returning home, where she began her career in 1996 as a meteorology intern under the leadership of former station meteorologist Dave Freeman.
She attended Witchita State University and Mississippi State University where she did her undergraduate studies. After she finished, she went to serve weather crews in Huntington, WV; Baltimore, MD; and Kansas City, MO. Most notably, it earned the American Meteorological Society’s “Seal of Approval” in 2018.
Additionally, she was recognized by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for having the best weather forecast in Wichita. She brings nearly 20 years of professional experience to her role at KSN News 3. Following some of her accomplishments, in 2011, she reported live from Joplin in the hours following the catastrophic EF5 tornado that hit the city.
She is one of the people who realized her passion at a young age. She discovered her passion for meteorology in her youth. Her father is a volunteer for the Amateur Radio Civil Emergency Service. He assists with emergency communications for Sedgwick County. When she’s off duty, she loves to take her 3 dogs for a walk with her husband or spend time indoors listening to country music and eating.
